Ilva is ruched the whole way down, so the bodice moves with you rather than holding a shape of its own.

Below the knee it breaks into tiered ruffles that fall long on one side and lift on the other. One dress, two tempers.

How to measure

Measure over your underwear, tape snug but not pulled tight.

  1. A · Bust — Around the fullest part, tape level at the back.
  2. B · Waist — Around the narrowest point, above the navel.
  3. C · Hips — Around the fullest part, feet together.

MATERIALS

  • Bodice: finely ruched throughout, square neck, two wide flat straps
  • Waist: a ruched horizontal panel that carries the gathers through
  • Skirt: close to the knee, then an asymmetric cascade of tiered ruffles
  • Fabric: floral burnout — raised flowers on a lighter ground of the same shade

CARE

  • Dry clean is the safest route
  • If washing at home, cold hand wash alone and never wring the ruffles
  • Line dry in the shade, away from direct heat
  • Cool iron on the reverse, or steam on the hanger to lift the ruffles
  • Store on a hanger so the tiers keep their fall
